Suspect arrested

In relation to the recent theft from vehicles in the Darwen Area (Sunnyhurst) that occurred  in the early hours on the 2/2/26, we have arrested and charged a male.

Mark Craig aged 40, of no fixed abode has been charged with 2 x theft from vehicle, a vehicle interference and a fraud by false representation.

Thanks to an extremely savvy victim, on the morning of the theft from his vehicle, he has tracked the suspect through the use of an AIRTAG in his wallet. Police have made to the area and arrested CRAIG still wearing the victims coat. Both coat and wallet were taken from victims vehicle in the night.

It has then unfolded more cars had been targeted in the Darwen area with the suspect wearing the same clothing. He has been further charged with those offences as well as a fraud for using a victims card at a nearby petrol station.

The use of a tracking device is also highly recommended as on this occasions has allowed us to retrieve property and arrest an offender.

Craig will return to court to be sentenced on the 26th April 2026.
